OUT & ABOUT: AUDREY HEPBURN AT CHRISTIE'S + GET THE AUDREY LOOK
British born Audrey Hepburn, the fashion and film icon of the Hollywood golden age, is still a huge inspiration to so many. Her understated and humble elegance is what continues to make her style so appealing and special.
This week a selection of her personal belongings are going to be auctioned at Christie's and I was very lucky to have paid a visit to the preview a few days ago. It was magical, and to be able to see her extensive wardrobe, never before seen photos and personal items in real life, made it a day to remember. I wanted to share just a few of my favourite images from the exhibition which encapsulate her amazing style. She was also a lover of animals and even had a pet deer which you can see in the photograph below. For me, her style was all about simplicity and clean lines, and to my surprise, she didn't own a lot of expensive jewellery, just a few key pieces. Amongst her enviable designer wardrobe were also simple cotton dresses and ballet pumps and every single dress or coat would be wearable today, it's that classic and timeless style I love so much. I've styled up a mood board with items I think made up her iconic look including the all important black roll neck jumper and ballet pumps, along with a Picasso print, she was a huge fan of his work and an amazing artist herself.
You can still view the catalog which details every single item with all the amazing photos and belongings including a Swiss rotary dial telephone and 1950's Cartier gold powder compact which were my favourites. Well worth a look, here's the link VIEW THE ONLINE CATALOG
