As soon as I started my Interior Design course I bought two magazine subscriptions, Elle Decoration and The World of Interiors.  I love sitting back with a cup of tea and flicking through the pages of beautiful imagery and consider this a vital monthly ritual.  In this day and age we are constantly on our screens (and thats great as your're here and reading this!!) searching for the quickest way to feed our inspiration banks and often get lost for hours in a virtual maze.  I think though its so important to take a break from our laptops every once and a while and get back to basics, and I love nothing more than getting my magazines in the post and turning the real pages to feed my imagination. I love to tear out anything that catches my eye and stick this into my scrap book for future reference(more on this and how to create a PRJ - personal reflective journal soon).

In this month's issue of Elle Decor I stumbled across Luke Irwin, an established and successful rug designer based in Pimlico. Being constantly pre-occiped with fabrics and wallpapers and having only bought a couple of plain cream rugs in the past (how boring!!), I was fascinated to learn more about how Luke's latest collection was inspired by the discovery of a roman mosaic floor hidden in his back garden(what are the chances!!). I headed straight to the website to take a closer look!

Established in 2003, Luke Irwin specialises in the design and manufacture of hand-knotted custom made rugs. The driving principle behind Luke Irwin is to offer each customer complete control over their own rug. With choices to be made for the size, colour, weave, textile and design ensuring that every client receives a truly bespoke and personal service.

No longer destined for cream rug cautiousness, I now realise that even bold patterned rugs can form the foundation of a successful interiors scheme.  I'm inspired to use this underestimated design accessory to create added depth and sumptuousness and to help tie everything together.

There are sooo many that I love from all the collections but have hand picked my top 5 favourite rugs here, no other blurb needed, they speak for themselves!

From the Geometric Range, The Agra Grid

From the Babylon Range, The Samark

From the Ozymandis Collection, The Atlantis

From the Ockhams Razor Collection, The Babylon

From the Swedish Collection, The Ran

Head over to luke Irwin for more information on sizes, price and availability, and to take in this truly luscious rug scenery.
