WHEN FASHION MEETS INTERIORS - INTRODUCING TED BAKER'S NEW TILE COLLECTION
FASHION AND INTERIORS
It's nothing new but there appears to be an ever closing gap between the world of fashion and the world of interiors. I mean, really they're one and the same aren't they? an expression of yourself and your unique style - have you ever noticed similarities between your fashion sense and your interior decor style? what you wear on your body may be very similar in style to what your house wear's on it's walls.
This movement seems to be forming part of the interior design process too. I've been working on how to take a client brief in my design studies and there are several sections which explore the client's fashion preferences. I may well ask you what colours you like to wear and seek permission to carefully wade through your wardrobe in an effort to find crucial links between your favourite dress and the colour of your kitchen.
FASHIONISTA TED BAKER DOES...TILES
So with this interesting trend in mind and the fact that anything floral and pattern focused instantly appeals to my GRANNY CHIC INTERIOR STYLE, I was super excited to be invited along to the launch of Ted Baker's new tile collection in celebration of #NationalTileWeek hosted by the 2 Lovely Gays - a design duo I really admire (more on 2LG below). It was a lovely affair with inspirational talks, cocktails and canapes. Did you know Ted baker also has a lovely range of bedlinen, tableware and rugs?!!
Ted's tile collection is inspired by his trip to Europe. Wowed by a house entirely decorated in tiles, including the furniture, Ted channelled this inspiration into a unique collection of his own for the home with that unique flair, attention to detail, style and practicality we all know and love about the brand.
The collection includes a mix of ceramic, porcelain and even a vintage style glass splash back design as above - you could certainly have lots of fun with this! On the whole I loved the collection but I did have two clear favourites which appeal to my granny chic style and that I can see being the most practical for a long term decor investment.
TED'S GEO TILE
This versatile porcelain tile can be used indoors and outdoors. I love the geometric designs and the colours will pretty much go with everything. There are twelve designs in a pack with two of each so you can have lots of fun laying and arranging them in any which way you like! SHOP HERE
TED'S CERAMIC MULTIUSE TILE
My other favourite was this the ceramic tile in a classic rococo design. I love anything rustic and think this tile would work equally well in a traditional or modern interior. This is a classic granny chic look and I remember my granny's kitchen had a very similar tile pattern to this which was really warm and inviting SHOP HERE
INTERIOR IDEAS FROM THE 2 LOVELY GAYS STUDIO `
The launch of Ted's tile collection was hosted by the 2 lovely Gays Studio and Jordon and Russell expertly talked through some fantastic interiors trends and showed us how they use tiles in some of their interior design schemes. If you don't already follow these two I would highly recommend you check out their blog; it's full to the brim of up to the minute trends and innovative ideas that will keep you on your toes. You might think cladding the floors AND walls in tiles would look fussy and over the top but it actually creates a really clean crisp look cleverly using just this one quality material. This is the ceramic paradise tile design used below.
LOVE LOVE LOVE
True to Ted's british heritage style the crossover between his fashion collection and this tile collection is seamless - it's the perfect fit and I am super happy to have discovered the range! CHECK OUT THE ENTIRE COLLECTION HERE
