PRINCESS DIANA - STILL A STYLE ICON 20 YEARS ON
I saw an article the other day featuring Princess Diana's sitting room at Kensington Palace during the 90's and knew straight away I wanted to write about the colour scheme she used to decorate it with. Two decades on and Princess Diana's style and grace is still so inspirational. She was well known for being one step ahead with her choice in fashion and in her interior design too.

So rewind back to 1997 and you can kind of imagine the interior design without seeing an image of it. Her sitting room, most likely her most treasured space, was where she spent most of her time relaxing and working. The regal look was very much what you would expect from an apartment at Kensington Palace during that period. A chintz marathon with lots of classic patterned fabrics, small scale trellis wallpaper, porcelain collections, ornately framed photos, frills and floral cushions. The colour scheme was based around duck egg blue and dusky pink which created a feminine and soft interior with soft blue curtains and a pink sofa. Although the style would be dated now (although I love a bit of chintz) the colour combination of pink and blue would be right on trend today, these colours are everywhere right now.
PINK & BLUE IN INTERIORS
Probably my two favourite colours and so beautiful in their own right but I really think pink and blue bring out the best in each other when used together. I recently scrolled through my Instagram page and realised most of the squares are made up of pink and blue tones. I think lots of variations of pink and blue work amazingly too, bubblegum pink with navy or dusky pink with cobalt blue - it's a winning colour combination and could only possibly be outdone by pink and green....but that's another blog post entirely.
PINK AND BLUE DECOR INSPIRATION
So with all this in mind and in homage to Princess Diana 20 years on I wanted to share a few decor ideas using these fabulous colours.
So are you a fan of pink and blue interiors? Did you love Princess Diana's style?
