DESIGN INSPIRATION FROM COMMERCIAL SPACES
I've been pinning amazing restaurant and shop exterior decor and interior design like a mad women for a while now. With commercial interior design, it feels like there are no bounds and endless possibility which I think is a great place to draw inspiration from for our own home decor. If you pick out key colours and materials these dynamic schemes can be pulled apart and adapted for day to day liveable interior design. Here I've listed a few of my favourites with a mood board created from the first image at Chiltern Firehouse. You can follow my dedicated board at the bottom of the post and have a lot of fun re-creating similar versions of these awesome looks!
LOVE the decor at Chiltern Firehouse. The simple clean white walls with soft pink furniture and pops of black by way of the framed art is stunning. The antique wall lighting gives some warmth too. I found this "Gertie" 2 seater sofa at Made, some gorgeous black and white framed art from Desenio and the most amazing selection of antique lighting from Fritz Fryer (just down the road from me here in Herefordshire). Adding in a contrast deeper red/pink with the softer tone using Farrow & Ball's Picture Gallery Red and Cinder Rose ties it all together.
This is the fashion store Pelican Studio in Amsterdam and I love the soft pastel colour palette. I'm certainly not bored of pink, especially when teamed with soft yellows and blues and again pops of black here and there with the curtain rails.
This space above is at the Hotel Barcelo Torre in Spain. Although the style is probably too far out for my own home, I could easily pick out the colours of the deep green chairs for a sofa with the pale green for a wall colour, gold accessories and this sort of lighting for the ceiling or table lamps. Fun or what!
I couldn't resist a touch of pink and green! This is the Untied restaurant in Sydney, how amazing are these colour combinations!
So what do you think? Do you scour around for design inspo in commercial like shops, hotels and restaurants? I even spotted some uber cool lighting at Gatwick airport the other day and took a photo of it for future reference....
